This 1880s dwelling has been exposed to a lot of harsh elements over the years of its life. The main entry step into the dwelling had started to exhibit a weak point to the outer edge splitting and separating it from the door reveal. Removing the wooden section of the entry step would have caused more damage to the structure. After reviewing the extent of the damage with the owner a decision was made to over lay the step with sheet metal brass. Measurements were taken to make a template then test fitted prior to cutting and bending into shape of the original step. Installation included strengthening the split section of the wooden step with appropriate screws & glue. Sealing the split section of step so no further water damage could occur. Installing the brass sheet metal step and securing with brass screws. Sealant was applied between the edges of sheet metal to the reveals then finished off with painting.
